Broccoli v. Raspberry Jello

What kind of crazy child would rather eat broccoli (three helpings) and SPIT OUT her raspberry jello?

The Boss, that's who.

And the other, relatively normal children. . .

She's Got The Scoot

We're this close to crawling baby! I've got the backwards scoot down pat (not to be confused with the boot scoot and boogie). Give me a few days and I'll be right there with the boss!

Look out Mom, here I come!

The Thanksgiving Play

Drama and Pooh Bear wrote a Thanksgiving play, made all the puppets, signs, tickets, everything for a major production. They invited their cousins, E-man and Roo, to be in the play. I see Tony's in all their futures!

The "cariters" (characters). . .

The Players (the Boss is the stage manager). . .

Brava! Brava!

The stunning back drop for the play was my parents brand spankin' new family room with built in book case/fireplace/mantel/amazing flat screen. This is the best picture I have, sorry, but trust me, it's amazing.

The Bald Spot

In the past I have learned to live with "baby pattern baldness." (The spot on the back of a baby's head that has all the hair rubbed off from sleeping on their backs.) Drama, Pooh Bear, and the Boss all had it and it does grow back in, that I'm not worried about. However, the older girls' bald spots were small, a rectangle about 1.5 inch wide by 1 inch tall right on the back of their little noggins. Aria, the little sweetness who's huge toothless smile can instantly make your day, has a ginormous bald spot.

(seriously, that face!)

The entire back of her head is bald. . .

My theory is that she always has to be on the look out for the Boss, cause you never know where she is going to show up, or fall out of the sky (she can climb into Aria's crib, oh dear). She is always looking around, trying to figure out where people are, what they are doing and how she can get in on the action.

The top and sides are pretty whispy now too. I've heard that if you shave their little heads it will all grow back in thick and beautiful. Maybe I will have Mark give her his hair cut.?.?.

And just for fun. . .

Pooh Bear's Running Commentary

I almost deleted this without watching it. Man, that would have been a mistake.

On the way to IF for Thanksgiving vaca, the girls were "soooo bored mom!" So I gave them my camera to entertain them. Pooh Bear took this video of herself. I think this is when the battery died. Too bad. She's full of insight.

Classic.

Fall Fun

The Boss enjoying the fall weather. . .

Aria: 4 Month Well Baby Checkup

Aria went for her 4 month well baby checkup last month. Here are her impressive stats. . .

Date: November 24, 2009
Length: 26 3/4 inches (90%)
Weight: 16 pounds 12 ounces (95%)
Head Circ: 40.1 cm (25%)

*not listed on my cute little paper but interesting to note
Aria's diaper size: 3
the boss' diaper size: 3

Random Photos of The Boss

I have been horribly remiss in my blogging activities lately. I have a good excuse, my kitchen remodel is kicking my rear. I finally had the new counter tops installed and they are amazing. I also finished the bottom cabinet doors. I'm working on the drawer fronts and after I finish those and we can get the child locks back on, I'm taking a break. Once I get the top cabinet doors finished I will take pictures and post my new kitchen in all it's glory.

Even though I haven't been keeping up on the bolgisphere, I have been taking lots of photos, so this post is dedicated to the random photos I have taken of The Boss. I probably take more photos of her that anyone else because, well for one she's always with me and two she is always doing something insanely funny.

Look at that face. I seriously love that face. . .

She believes that this is how one wears a tutu properly. . .

Rocking out. . .

Christmas shopping. . .

She loves to sit in things. Buckets, boxes, drawers. . .

Or lay in things. . .

What Was I Thinking?

For my birthday Mark "gave" me a new kitchen. He pretty much told me I could do whatever I wanted to the cabinets and counter tops. After much (way too much) thought I decided on a couple of things. I chose to replace all the doors and drawer fronts with new ones and refinish them myself (Here you may insert the, "what the heck were you thinking" comments.) And with the money I saved doing the work myself I bought granite counter tops, oh man they are soooo pretty.

Most of my kitchen is now in my living room. . .

Stay tuned for updates. Hopefully, I will finish before I go insane.

Halloween

A Cowgirl . . . a Kitty . . . Curious George . . .The Man in the Yellow Hat. . . (this photo is actually from the ward Halloween party that was Tuesday night.)

Photos from actual Halloween (not the ward party, not the school Halloween parade but actual Halloween.) (And, yes my refrigerator is in my dinning room. For my birthday Mark gave me the gift of manual labor. Of course the manual labor is my own. . . but that's the next post.)

And absentee parenting at it's very best. The stinkin' doorbell just kept ringin'. . .

TuTu Fun

We took the girls for photos today at JCPenny. Mark thinks they did a "crappy" job, but I think given the mood that The Boss was in this morning, she did a really good job. The Boss' little quirks that drive me insane are also the one that make her so much fun. She was all for taking pictures as long as she got to sit where she wanted, which was in the corner.(?) When we moved her to the center with her sisters that's when the meltdown began.

and 3 .. 2.. 1.. nuclear meltdown...

So we took some of this little munchkin. . .

Doesn't that face just kill you?

And some with Drama and Pooh Bear. . .

And finally. . .

We got all the images on CD (did you know JCPenny did that? Neither did I, but they do.) So if you want copies, let me know, I'll hook you up.

Aren't You a Little Ray of Sunshine?

Why yes, I am.

On the way home from Sonic this morning I saw actual rays of sunshine filtering through the clouds. I had to stop and take a picture. I really wanted to have my nice camera with me but the iphone photo will have to do.

Also noteable, today Pooh Bear had her first field trip of first grade and had to be prompt this morning because they were leaving as soon as the PMers got to school. Last night she asked if she could get up at 6:00 so she could be there on time. The PMers get there at 9:15. I said no.

Curious George

I have been trying for a while to get this on video. The Boss loves watching Curious George. I have about 40 episodes DVRed and have everyone of them memorized. I can be in the other room and hear the dialog and see in my head what is on the screen. Not really what I want to devote my precious remaining brain cells to, but what can you do?

Here is The Boss saying Curious George (and meowing, cause that's just a fun thing to do):

. . .and I just bought myself a good 20 minutes.

I'm gonna start a parenting class. I know you all are just dying to learn all my Parent of the Year skillz.

Fashionista

. . ."A person devoted to fashion clothing, particularly unique or high fashion. A term used to define a woman with a penchant for shopping and a natural flair for combining both current and vintage fashionable trends."

As anyone who has meet The Boss knows, she can be, shall we say persuasive. She has started to pick out her own clothing in the morning with varying degrees of success. This morning was a total winner.

She picked out the shirt she wanted to wear on her torso. Then she went for the dress. Next she decided on the accessories, one shirt for the preppy look. She picked out the yellow onesie and pointed at her shoulders and "said" something. So I draped it over her shoulders and tied it alla Polo circa 1980. Next, one for headgear, seeing as how she couldn't find a proper hat. All in all I would chalk this one up as a win, definitely a keeper.

Sisters

October 6, 2009

Oh, aren't sisters the best? (Brothers are OK too, we just don't have any of those around here :})

Now, I just have to include all of these because I just love them all!

Don't you just love these faces!

(These were obviously taken before the great quarantine of '09, because Pooh Bear is not allowed anywhere near Aria right now!)

The Big Girl Bath

On tonights schedule of festivities - a big girl bath.

Drama and Pooh Bear are staying with Grandma and Grandpa Van Horn for Fall Break, so it's just these two. (I almost feel lonely . . . but not quite.) I decided to kill two birds with one stone and bathe the pair together. Aria loved it. She even enjoyed the part(s) where The Boss dumped cups full of water over her head. Ok, parts, because it happened several times. The Boss probably enjoyed my reaction each time.

And here they are after lotion and jammies. The Boss doesn't want to hold still for 2 seconds so I can snap a picture. So I'm "tickling" her with my foot. She's sorta laughing.

Some of the Best Things in Life

 are filled with helium.

I love it when kids start learning to talk. Of course right now everything is a "kitty."

Me: "What do you want to eat for a snack?"
The Boss: (pointing randomly) "Kitty!"
Me: "Goldfish?"
The Boss: (pointing randomly to a different place) "Kitty!"
Me: "Marshmallows?"
The Boss: (pointing randomly to somewhere new) "Kitty!"

If we see a dog, cat, horse, etc. guess what it is. Yep, a kitty! I'm glad we are learning a new word, balloon!

Not the swine flu

In fact, not the flu at all, thank heavens. Ella just has a cold, a nasty one, but is on the mend. I guess I'm am an overprotective/ parinoid/media overloaded mother! But, I don't regret taking her to the doctor. Not with a baby in the house. She did have a fever of 103.5. And while I wasn't too worried about her, I really didn't want the babies to get sick. She is still pretty much quarentined and won't be going to school tomorrow. The nurse I talked to today said her cough could last up to three weeks! Hopefully it won't, she's lost her voice and the cough sounds horrible in her little chest. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Is this the face of swine flu?

Here we are at the doctor last night. Then it was over to the hospital to get tested for the swine flu.

We still don't know what the results are. Arg!

She was happy through the whole process, though. What a trooper!

Food Storage Basics

Everyone needs some of this in their food storage. It is, however, a tad on the expensive (and messy) side!

But so worth it!

Talking Aria

October 6, 2009

Aria is growing up way too fast. She is already talking and laughing. Someone loan me a shoe box, quick!

The Boss is going to have some serious competition soon!

(Sorry the video is wiggly. It's hard to film a seriously adorable baby while tickling her with a zebra. Try it sometime.)

Halloween Candy

Oh, Halloween candy, how I hate thee. You are my nemesis.

This is last years candy. I packed it all up and stuck it in the freezer about November 5th last year. I thought it was about time to "rotate" it through my food storage before the huge candy haul this year.

Conference Weekend

Conference. Drama and Pooh Bear were so excited to watch until we actually turned it on. Then they were "soooo bored mom!" Here is how we passed the hours of the first session today:

I bought this roll of paper and the holder at IKEA. It was a good investment. We had fun coloring. Then The Boss decided that it was more fun to use as a runway.

Everyone's hand (except Aria, she was sleeping).

And Daddy and Aria watching, listening, absorbing the words of wisdom during the second session.

Thank heavens for DVR so I can watch it later bit by bit without having to entertaining the masses.
