Pooh Bear

This post is dedicated to my Pooh Bear. The other day I was watching Pooh Bear, my little tornado, and thought that I should write a post just about her. But where to start? She is very strong willed and often gets her way out of shear determination. But she also has this very generous side that loves to be helpful. She helps me give the baby a bath and then while I am drying, lotioning and dressing the baby, she cleans up all the bath toys and takes the bath mat out of the tub to dry. When I get done with The Boss, she is making my bed and cleaning up all of the baby's toys on my bedroom floor. When I asked her what she was doing she told me "I'm serving you. It makes my heart happy." Let me tell you that girl could get away with anything after she said that to me. Talk about a heart melter!

Pooh Bear is very active, both physically and mentally. I can always see the wheels in motion behind her eyes in that little head of hers. One day she asked me if I was thinking what she was thinking? I said something like time to clean up your bedroom? and she said, "No, silly. I was thinking yogurt!" She also has informed me that she is going to marry one of the boys in her primary class. She told me one day in the car, after we had dropped Drama off at school and on our way to Sonic, "I've chosen Sam to marry. He's going to be my Mark."

With Pooh Bear's very active life style comes some accidents. She is always running around (I can't get her to stop), swinging or jumping on things. It usually doesn't take her very long to fall or bonk into something but she jumps right up and says, "I'm okay!" I don't think that she said that last Tuesday. She came home from school with a nice black eye. She and a friend had bonked heads together and she jumped into the car after school with a baggie full of melting ice. You know that had to hurt. I took these pictures that very morning. I should have got some "after" pictures but didn't think about it.

Pooh Bear is a blessing and a joy in our house. Life would be so dull without her. We have so much fun together and even though there are the times when I look at her like she is from another planet and I throw my hands into the air and say "Fine, whatever, I don't care!" she really is a wonderful, loving, kind, five year old. We have our tense moments. But, while they can be intense, they are few and far between. She loves to smile and think up crazy things that make others smile, or laugh out loud. I love you Pooh Bear! You're crazy and no, I'm probably not ever thinking what you are thinking!

Hero

What is a hero? Dictionary.com defines a hero as:

(in the Homeric period) a warrior-chieftain of special strength, courage, or ability.

Well, I am married to an honest to goodness hero. One who can raise laptops from the dead. Yes, my friends I am blogging from my newly incarnate laptop. The very same one that died a tragic death this very week. Don’t ask me what Mark did, ‘cuse I don’t have a clue. All I know is that he first rescued all of my files (happy dance) and then fixed the hard drive. He had to do some very fancy maneuvers, none of which I understand, but it is official – He is my own personal HERO. Sorry ladies, he's taken.

Laptop dies in horrific accident. . .

Monday night at around 8 pm, Amy Van Horn's shiny laptop passed over to the other side in a horrific accident. Not much is know about what exactly happened but at the time of death Amy was trying to make a photo book of her three adorable girls and we believe the laptop my have gotten jealous and just given up all hope. A viewing will be held at the "My Hard Drive Died and Took All My Work Files with It Funeral Home". Then the laptop will be cremated and interned at the “I Couldn’t Have Died at a Worse Time Laptop Cemetery.” Donations in lieu of flowers are being accepted at all Zion’s Banks. Ask for the “Poor, poor, Amy Van Horn, What Are You Going to Do Now” Fund.

Here is my first attempt at putting The Boss' hair in a pony. If she wasn't so wiggly it might have turned out better. Well smoother anyway!

Tag, Your It!

I'm just testing things now, here is another video. The Boss was trying to walk, Pooh Bear is playing tag with another little girl at gymnastics (it's Drama's class). You see Pooh Bear run up to The Boss after she falls and she declares that "Anna is it." No wonder this girl has got to learn how to walk. She get's tagged it and can't do a thing about it!

Here is video of The Boss walking! She's not too bad!

Crack-berry

Anyone who knows me know that I have addiction problems. Hello, my name is Amy and I am addicted to:
1. Sonic's Diet Cherry Coke - I keep going back even though the service is terrible and every time I say to myself, "this is the last one, I promise, I can quit anytime"
2. Shoes - not only for me. I have bought The Boss probably 12+ pairs of shoes in her short life (most of them were on clearance for $1.25). Now ask me if The Boss will wear shoes for more that 20 seconds? No, thanks for asking, she won't. In fact, she usually has the first shoe off before I can get the second one on.
3. Well, you get the point, I don't want to go into all my vices, let's be honest it's embarrassing.

So to add to my addictions I have acquired a blackberry cellphone. If you own a blackberry you probably know what I am talking about, if you are married to someone who owns a blackberry you know what I am talking about, if you don't I shall try to explain. Imagine, if you will, realizing that everything you thought was important really isn't and all that is important in this world can be displayed on a tiny 1.5"x2" screen. Now you might think that this is not possible, how can an other wise sensible person become so obsessed over a phone? In the first place, I was never sensible and in the second - it's crack baby, crack.

I can quit anytime I want to. I just don't want to. . .

Trick-or-Treat!

Halloween has never been my favorite holiday, I'm a party pooper and never dress up, but I have to admit that it is a lot of fun with little kids. Drama was tinkerbell and Pooh Bear was a pirate. They had costume parades at school (one for Drama in the morning and one for Pooh Bear with the afternoon kindergarten) and parties gallor. Pooh Bear proudly told me that they would not be learning anything today because it was all fun and parties! Then we had trick-or-treating at Dad's work and in the neighborhood. Busy, busy, busy! They ended up with two entire pumpkins full of candy each! It was quite a haul.

Jack-o-Lanterns

Okay, so I'm not very good with the traditions and all, but last night we carved pumpkins. I thought it would be fun to carve them to match the girls smiles but nobody went for that. Mark, of course, did all drawing and carving. I was in charge of scooping out the slimy guts.

And, for special effect. . .

A Toothy Grin for Halloween

Little Miss Pooh Bear lost her first tooth on Tuesday and it was pretty traumatic. It was soooo loose, barely hanging in there. When Mark asked her if she wanted him to pull it, chaos ensued. She screamed, she cried, it's my tooth, it's my tooth! Finally she let him look at the tooth and all he had to do was wiggle it a tiny bit and it fell out. It didn't take her long to decide that loosing a tooth wasn't too bad. In fact, by the time she got home from school, it was a pretty cool story, one in which she didn't shed one single tear. Anyway here's a picture of our little Jackie-o-lantern. What a grin!

Right. . .

Like I would really take a picture of myself on my phone (nice hu?) and post it to my blog. Mark is teaching me how to post from my phone. It does, however, show my great new haircut. I broke down, under duress with the family pics coming, and paid good money for this do. I like it. Finally, a haircut I like.

Test

Hey, trying out this new blogging feature.

Family Photos for Real

Well, I can finally take a big breath. We had our family pictures taken this afternoon and man, was it cold! The girls had a great time hamming it up for the camera. However, the next time I decide we need new pictures, I need to be reminded that it takes a small army (of 1) an entire two weeks to prepare for the 45 minute sitting! I hope, I hope, I hope the pictures turn out fabulous. I wish I had thought to snap a couple of my own but my brain was fried, so no cute pictures to post right now.

On the flooring front - we get new carpet installed on Friday, again. Yea for us! We picked out a different carpet and are hoping that when it is installed it is all the same color. This is what it looks like right now...
pretty neat hu? Anyhoo, that's it from me for now.

Practice makes Perfect

Today we "practiced" hair for our new family pictures that we are taking this Wednesday. OMGosh! These kids have to be the cutest kids I have ever seen! Pooh Bear's not a big sitting for the curling iron kind of girl and complained through practically the whole thing but she is too cute. And Drama, she just loves the girl time, no matter what it is. We even practiced styling The Boss' hair - that was interesting. So here are a few of our practice pictures.

Hey y'all. Welcome to my first blog post ever! I have been reading alot of blogs lately and I have decided that I could do this too. I don't know what exactly I will be blogging about, probably just a lot of random things from our life (this and that). So, welcome and enjoy what we post here.
