Bea's 18 Month Checkup

Monday, January 24, 2011

Bea recently turned 18 months. {Yea, I don't have to stay in nursery with her any longer!} She is doing very well, happy, healthy, all that jazz.

Bea's 18 Month Stats:

Weight: 26 pounds 1 ounce (75th percentile)
Height: 32 inches (75th percentile)
Head Circ: 45.4 centimeters (25th percentile)
Diaper Size: 4 {FYI, just in case you wanted to send me some. They are very expensive.}

 {Bea, pre-doctors visit. Before she was brutally jabbed with a Hib and DTP shot. So, sorry baby.}

Developmental Milestones:
  • Walks quickly, up stairs, & backwards
  • Climbs up but can't always get down
  • Eats (anything within reach) with a spoon or fork
  • Plays games such as talking into a telephone {I apologize if she has actually called you while pretending to talk into ours.}
  • Behavior: "Children at this age rarely share." {Seriously, a direct quote from our cheat sheet.}

 {Weigh in}

Words or Phrases that I Understand when She Says Them:
  • Get down
  • I love you, too
  • What's that?
  • Where did it go?
  • Yes (emphasis on the s}
  • No
  • Poop {when she wants her diaper changed, also hits her backside with the back of her hand while saying "poop"}

{Waiting, ever so patiently for Mr. Dr.}

Bea's 15 Month Check-up

Bea turned 15 months yesterday. I can't believe how fast the little monster is growing!

Here are her stats from her doctor's visit.

Age: 15 months
Date: 10-18-2010
Length: 31.8 inches (75%)
Weight: 23 pounds (50%)
Head Circumference: 44.7 cm (15%)

She is healthy, happy and up to the typical antics of 15 month olds.

 Of course typical 15 month olds are usually up to no good.

 And she definitely is typical in that respect.

If the doctor makes you wait a really long time - this is what happens.
Door open.
Door closed.
Door open.
Door closed.

Drawer open.
Drawer closed.
Drawer open.
Take out all the emergency diaper stash.
Drawer closed.
.
.
.
She did manage to put all the emergency diapers back in the drawer herself.
 See  - she's getting more mature by the day!

ps - I just noticed that The Boss is holding the play doctor kit shot! If that isn't foreshadowing. Everyone got their flu shots, me included. The Boss is still very upset about it. Just ask her. "Owie. Owie. My leg owie!"

The One Where I Make It All About Me. . .

Fact: I ruin all my shirts. Every single one of my t-shirts has little holes in the front at about kitchen counter height (what that's all about I don't know) or has bleach spots down the front (I love bleach. I get it from my Grandma Wheatley, (the trait/gene - not the actual bleach). If it can be bleached, I'll do it. If it can't be bleached then I will probably try to at some point and if it gets ruined then it really wasn't worth it anyway.) Friday I was wearing a brand spanking new shirt from Target, I love Target too, and was prepared to ruin it by the end of the day. Man, do I really wish that I had ruined it my normal way, i.e. holes/bleach, because this shirt was used to mop up Bea's blood. That's right, I win mother of the year again because Bea fell off the kitchen chair and bit through her lip. I have a woozy stomach and couldn't verify that it actually went ALL the way through but it was gaping enough on the outside that I hauled her into the doctor's office. And since I have somehow made this post all about me. . .the Jeep wouldn't start so Mark had taken my car to work that morning. I had Drama call him and ask if he could come home or if I needed to call a friendly neighbor. He raced home and I took Bea up the street to the Pediatrician.
 It turns out I may have over-reacted just a tiny bit. Bea didn’t need stitches but they did super glue her “gaping gash” back together and said she shouldn’t have much of a scar.
Bea was really only upset for a few minutes right after the “incident.” In fact the nurses commented on how happy she was (even though she was still eeking blood out of her lip). I informed them that she could be mortally wounded and still be happy smiley baby frolicking down the halls and to not read too much into it.
PS-Please disregard the applesauce all over her mouth. The only way I could get a picture was to feed her and trap her in her highchair.

Help, I Need Somebody...

to

A) fix my blog and
2-fix my baby's ear.

First let me say that I tried to change one small little thing on my blog layout and because blogger changed the way the templates are ....whatevered....now my blog looks like this....wack-a-doodle-ness...... and I haven't figured out how to fix it. I'm working on it, but computer literacy is not my strong suit. Grrrrr.

I'm already frustrated tonight because poor little Bea's ear infection is back. She has already been through all the available oral antibiotics so they have moved on to the shot version. They were worried the dose was high for one little leg so they split it into two shots and each leg got a shot of it's very own. She was so sad which made me sad....sigh.

We get to go back to the doctor tomorrow and then on Monday for 2 more sets of shots. Poor baby.

If this doesn't work our next stop is the ENT for what I am sure will be more very pleasant, happy visits.

Aria - 9 Month Checkup

Aria went in for her 9 month checkup Monday. All was well until the doctor said she had an ear infection! What? How long has she had an ear infection? He, of course, has no idea how long she has had the infection. So, the good mother of the year award goes to. . .

Me! Yea me.
So here are the pertinent measurements from Monday's visit:

Age: 9 months
Date: April 19, 2010
Length: 28 1/4 inches (75%)
Weight: 20 pounds 4 ounces (75%)
Head Circ: 43 centimeters (25%)
 Developmental Milestones:

**Listed on her developmental sheet, she should 1. sit alone well, 2. may creep crawl, move forward by scooting on bottom, 3. bear weight momentarily with feet, 4. do several other relatively boring things.**

In reality she can:
-Pull up to standing, cruse around furniture and people, stand unassisted for several seconds before she gets so excited with herself she bounces too violently and falls over.
-Eats everything she can gets her hands on.
-Claps her hands when she is especially pleased with herself or others.
-Loves attention and when she wants your attention she will put her head between yours and whatever your attention is focused on.
They poked her toe to test her iron. When I picked her up out of her crib after nap time she was chewing the band-aid like a piece of gum. Yummy.
And here is the proud big sister totally hamming it up for the nurses!

Doctor Visit, 2 Months

September 18, 2009

Aria had her 2 month well baby check up today. She's fabulous, as you could probably guess. Right on her developmental milestones. She:
  • Smiles and Coos
  • Lifts and turns her head when she's on her stomach
  • Grasps at things
  • Turns when she hears a voice
Stats:
Age: 2 Months
Length: 23 inches, 75th percentile
Weight: 13 lbs 10 oz, 97th percentile (that's my girl)
Head Circ. 37.7 cm, 25th percentile

She received a set of vaccinations today. Five vaccines in three shots and an oral something or other.

Exhibit A, proof of weight:

If the nurse had rounded up on the ounces, she would have totally gotten an A+ (98%) in the weight department!

18 Month Doctor Visit

August 24, 2009The Boss turned 18 months old on the 3rd of this month and she had her checkup Monday. She's healthy, happy, into everything but doesn't say many coherent things. (she's obviously saying something important, just not in a language we understand!) Here are her stats:

Date: August 24, 2009
Height: 32 inches (50th percentile)
Weight: 23 pounds 2 ounces (25th percentile)

First Doctor Visit

Aria is 2 whole weeks old today and had her first visit to the doctor's office (first visit anywhere out of the house, actually).

Stats:
Weight: 9 lbs 3 oz - 75th percentile (she left the hospital weighing 7 lbs 3 oz, gaining a whole 2 pounds!)
Length: 21 inches - 75th percentile

She also had her second PKU test, where they jab her in the heal and make her bleed on a piece of cardboard (check's for a specific enzyme). The nurse complimented her on what a good bleeder she was! The girlie band aid the nurse tried to put on first wouldn't stick so we had to go with the cool camo band aid. I think it made her look tough. Mark went to change her diaper tonight and the band aid had come off and she had "bled all over in her blankets!"

The doctor declared her perfect, which I already knew, and healthy.
