Four

The Boss turned 4 on Friday.

Seriously.

I can't believe that she is 4.

Some days she acts 14.

Grandma Tina gave her this outfit. I love it, it makes me happy.
{and I think of Rainbow Brite, she was sassy too}

The Forgotten Present

Mark put together one of Bea's birthday presents the night before her birthday and then put it outside so we didn't have to wrap it. She was so happy with all of the other things that she received on her birthday that we decided to leave this one outside until the next day, that was Sunday. Today, I finally let her outside in the backyard to play with it. See, technically I didn't forget that it was out there. It was sitting on the table on the patio and I shielded it from view every time they helped let the dog out. We have been so busy this week that we just haven't had the time to go out there and spend quality time with it.

But today we did...

And it was almost more fun than swinging.

Both girls took turns "accidentally" getting the other wet and getting upset at the unfairness of it all.

Bea Turns 2

It's official. I don't have any more "babies."
{Sadly, The Boss and Bea will probably always be called "the babies" even when they are 12 and 11. I should probably start saving for their future therapy.}

Bea loves Yo Gabba Gabba. It's her favorite TV show. Sure she can watch a Dora or a Deigo, but YGG is her go to show. So, we had a Yo Gabba Gabba Birthday party for her. Nothing fancy. It's hard to find YGG stuff around town, so I had to make my own cupcake toppers and printed out masks and decorations of all the characters that Drama cut out for me.

Muno {red, Mark's personal fav.}, Plex {yellow robot}, Brobee {Green w/ freaky long arms}, Tootee, {blue, cat like creature}, Foofa {pink}, and of course DJ Lance Rock.

Miss Bea is an awesome 2 year old. And by awesome, I mean, A LOT of work! With three older sisters she has many examples of what you can and cannot get away with. And of course she likes to push the boundaries to see how much she can get away with.

This girl has an amazing vocabulary. She loves gymnastics and swinging and eating sand. Still pretty accident prone as her legs and sometimes her face testify. She loves to give "Big hugs" and "kisses". Most afternoons we snuggle together on the couch, she watches a Yo Gabba Gabba and I watch the inside of my eyelids with the smell of sunshine in my arms. She has the best confused or "I don't really want to do what you are asking me to do" look (it's the exact same look for both). Really, it's classic, I will have to get a picture next time.

She's amazing and can put a smile on almost anyone's face, even if the smile is because they are glad the super cute wholly terror goes home with me and not them.

Buddy

Meet the newest member of our family....

Buddy

Buddy is Drama's birthday present. Drama will be 10 this year. 10! Where did the time go?

 Buddy is a Chiwawa and Shih tzu mix so he will not get very big. He's a hit with everyone.

{Mark and I tried very hard to name him Javi, after RSL player  #11 Javier Morales, who's ankle was broken in a brutal tackle two weeks ago. But we were out voted and {not so} gracefully conceded defeat. We were told Javi could be his nickname. So, maybe I'll add his picture to the side bar with his nickname......hmmm.}

A Birthday Party for Pooh Bear, or Two

Pooh Bear turned 7, May 1st. Can you believe it?

We went to Grandma Tina's and Grandpa Phil's for the weekend to visit. Uncle Matt, Aunt Rosanna and Oliver were in town. Of course this was the weekend that the stomach flu decided to show up at our house. Poor Boss was too sick to go, so Mark stayed home with the Boss and Aria, while Drama, Pooh Bear and I went went up to Idaho. We had a party at Leo's, the best restaurant ever, the girls used to think it was Disneyland. Yea, it's that fun.

We had a cake...
And presents, of course...
Pooh Bear was supposed to have a party with her friends the next weekend but we were all too sick so it had to be moved to the next weekend. But according to all the little girls, it was so much fun.

She wanted a Movie Night Birthday Party, so we turned the house into a movie theater complete with an arcade, tickets, and prizes to buy with the tickets.

Something to hold all the prizes in...
Lots of lights to set the mood...
And more presents...
Happy Birthday Pooh Bear!!

The Boss Turns 2 & Has a Party

My little bossy boss turns 2 today. I can't believe it has been two years already.

We spent Friday and Saturday with Grandma Tina and Grandpa Phil, then Grandma and Grandpa Van Horn came down to share in the fun birthday party on Sunday. The Boss had a fun time with all her favs. Grandparents, pasta, presents,cupcakes, balloons, center of attention. . .

The Birthday Girl
I got a little crazy with the party (the amount of crazy varies depending on who you are talking to). I wasn't spending money in January so I had a lot of energy that needed to be channeled somewhere and this is one of the areas that I channeled. I made this birthday girl shirt as well as the matching curly twirly hair clips. (I made the tutus last year for the Christmas card pictures.)

Yummy cupcakes. . .

Totally frivolous, apothecary jar filled with marshmallows dipped in white chocolate and colored sugar. . .

Did you know you can't color chocolate with water based food color? It doesn't work. So I had to get creative. I colored sugar, dipped the marshmallows in white chocolate and then in the colored sugar. No one got to eat any of these, of course, because it would ruin their appetites.

Yum. Pasta, broccoli, salad and bread. What more could a girl ask for?
Grandpa always stirs up trouble!

Happy Birthday!

Too All My Family Born in November and December;

What were your parents trying to do to me, really?! I was doing so well last year sending out birthday cards in a relatively close proximity to actual birth dates and then came November. . . and, you know, stuff happens. Namely, my kitchen happened. So I kinda, OK really, dropped the ball and just plain missed all ya-all's birthdays.

But I want you to know that I really did think about you and you have been on my conscience this whole time (seriously, it's been bothering me). So, to make myself feel better, I mailed out November's birthday cards today and December's will go out in tomorrows mail. Shew (as the Boss would say) I am feeling better about myself already. So when you get a (really) late birthday card in the mail from us, don't be mad (please, please), just take it as a reason to celebrate in January. And maybe this year your card will be on time, or at least in the right month!

Happy Birthday!

**This photo was taken at my awesome doctor brother's graduation. This "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" thing is something we started doing a long time ago, so it's sorta a tradition. Also, I have no idea what I am doing with my mouth.**

Pooh Bear Turns 6!

April 30 and May 1, 2009

Pooh Bear tuned six years old this year. I know, I can't believe it either! Pretty soon we will say goodbye to kindergarten and hello to 1st grade. Hello 1st grade and all day school, it's nice to meet you.

I thought it would be fun to take the girls to my hair salon and get "glitter toes," where they put layers of glue and glitter on your toes and say it lasts "forever." The girls got the royal treatment and thought it was the coolest thing and I am glad that the glitter toes last longer than 30 minutes. (If you have ever painted a little girls toes or finger nails you know that the paint stays on for about that long.) We did this the day before her birthday so she could wear her cute new sandles to school and show off her toes on her birthday. Of course we had to go buy the sandles right after their toes were done because all we had were flip flops and you can't wear flip flops to school. So, it was a really good day, glitter toes and new sandles, what more could a girl ask for?

Just like Mom's pedicures...The Process...It's so relaxing, Mom...The final product...Then on her birthday, for her birthday dinner, she choose Applebee's. Always a good choice cause they sing to you and you get free ice cream! And then we opened presents at home. Grandma Tina was staying with us because I was using her slave labor to paint the girls brand new room downstairs (on the list of things to blog about, don't worry). It was a fun birthday.Happy Birthday Pooh Bear! We love you!

Piercing!

May 25, 2009

Drama has wanted her ears pierced for years. I told her that she had to be 8 before she could get them pierced. This was the rule when I was growing up, so it seemed logical. However, as 8 has drawn closer 12 seemed like a better number to me. But, there was no going back, 8 was out there and 8 it would have to be.

So, today, at 7 years 363 days old, Drama got her ears pierced.

She was so excited.

She knew it would hurt.

She was totally ready.

The lady that pierced them walked her through what would happen and how to take care of her ears later.

Drama said, "Oh, I know how. My mom told me that I have to put wine on them to keep them clean." Wine is alcohol people and would work if it was all you had on hand! ;)

Then Drama picked out her first pair of earrings, her birthstone, and it was over. She now has two new holes in her head that God did not put there.

Pooh Bear went with her to hold her hand and give her moral support. (From the other side of the store. Pooh Bear is not good with stress or trauma. She went to look at the necklaces and things for the duration of the piercing. She kept yelling across the store, "are you done yet?" She wasn't coming back until it was done!) And yes, they are caring purses, each one with $2 to be spent after at the Dollar Store.Before, (the puppy on her lap came for support)...During...After, left ear...And after, right ear...
