The Boss Turns 2 & Has a Party

My little bossy boss turns 2 today. I can't believe it has been two years already.

We spent Friday and Saturday with Grandma Tina and Grandpa Phil, then Grandma and Grandpa Van Horn came down to share in the fun birthday party on Sunday. The Boss had a fun time with all her favs. Grandparents, pasta, presents, cupcakes, balloons, center of attention. . .

The Birthday Girl
I got a little crazy with the party (the amount of crazy varies depending on who you are talking to). I wasn't spending money in January so I had a lot of energy that needed to be channeled somewhere and this is one of the areas that I channeled. I made this birthday girl shirt as well as the matching curly twirly hair clips. (I made the tutus last year for the Christmas card pictures.)

Yummy cupcakes. . .

Totally frivolous, apothecary jar filled with marshmallows dipped in white chocolate and colored sugar. . .

Did you know you can't color chocolate with water based food color? It doesn't work. So I had to get creative. I colored sugar, dipped the marshmallows in white chocolate and then in the colored sugar. No one got to eat any of these, of course, because it would ruin their appetites.

Yum. Pasta, broccoli, salad and bread. What more could a girl ask for?
Grandpa always stirs up trouble!

Happy Birthday!

  1. Hey-wait!!!
I saw the colored sugar-even commented on it, while at your kitchen sink and I think the answer was something like: to use on marshmallows. I saw the beautiful apothecary jar in the living room--thought: hmm-marshmallows and sugar, naw, thanks. NO-ONE, I mean, NO-ONE-not even Ella who can't keep anything to herself, did not tell me that they were first dipped in white chocolate. So FYI, they would not have ruined my appetite. I would have sucked the sugar & white chocolate off and spit the marshmallows out, thus saving plenty of room for the real food. It could've been an appetizer. That not withstanding, great party, great decorations, yummy yummy food and outstanding funny family members. And, yes, the girls paternal grandfather should've been grounded. Welcome to my past 43 years.

  3. I can't believe how big she is getting. It is amazing how much more she is out of the "baby" stage and into the "little girl" stage. Totally cute, if you don't need her anymore she can come stay with us.
